As you know, I love smoothies. My love and obsession with smoothies led me to acai bowls, which are now one of my favorite breakfast and snack meals. I am one of those people that likes a quick and light breakfast, which is why acai bowls are a great option for me. If you are looking for a healthy, simple, fast and tasty breakfast option (that isn’t a smoothie) then this is something to try.

Acai berries are not only delicious, but are also one of the healthiest berries. They contain antioxidants, healthy fats, B vitamins, electrolytes and fiber. Recent research has shown that acai berries have the highest antioxidant levels compared to other fruits and berries (and red wine!).

Antioxidants support our body by preventing and repairing damage that has been caused by free radicles. This supports the body in the process of fighting illness and disease.  

I encourage you to try this recipe and make it one of your regular breakfast meal options. It is too easy and tasty not to try!

Ingredients:

-Acai Smoothie Berry pack (will be found in the frozen section and try to get the unsweetened kind)

-banana

-1/2 cup of frozen blueberries

-1/2 cup of frozen strawberries

-1/2 cup of vanilla soy milk or almond milk

-pumpkin seeds

-chia seeds

-sliced almonds

*Can add any toppings you want-these are just want I used this time around

*Add a teaspoon of honey if you want the contents sweeter

 Directions:

1.  Run the acai smoothie pack (one individual pack) under warm water for 1 minute (thaw it out).

2.  Add the acai, half the banana, blueberries, strawberries and soy milk to the blender and mix.

3.  Place the acai mixture into a bowl. Sprinkle on the pumpkin seeds, chia seeds, sliced almonds and the rest of the banana (cut up) on top of the acai mixture. Add as much as you want!

4.  Enjoy!
